Our Visitors

Since most of our family lives in the Bay Area, we are the one's who usually do the visiting but sometimes we get lucky and get a visitor to come to our neck of the woods! This time it was extra special because these visitors were coming on the train!!

My friend generously offered to stay behind with sleeping Elliott so Oliver and I got to sneak out and wait for the train to arrive in downtown. This was especially fun for me since I rarely get one on one time with Oliver anymore. I loved being fully devoted to only him and I think he enjoyed having me to himself as well. (*note to self: must do that more....)

Our local train station is right off the main downtown area and is amazingly kid-friendly. There is a grassy area with great big rocks to play on while you wait and a pretty decent fence that offers enough peace of mind so that moms like me can actually enjoy watching their kids run and play 20 feet from the huge, powerful and loud trains as they come and go.

The train was a little late but I think that

he was just enjoying a nice little moment in the sunshine :)

Entertaining ourselves (well, myself) with self portraits....

More fun waiting at the traintracks :)

And finally....we HEARD it coming!!

Not so sure what he thinks of this whole loud and screeching train.

(He learned this trick after we learned how much Elliott does NOT like his car seat!)

Hey!!! We know them!!

It's Auntie Emma and GG!! Hooray!

Oliver wasted no time in getting the full nephew treatment from his doting auntie.

GG and Emma stayed the whole day and gave Ollie and Elliott constant attention and affection. They played outside with him in the hundred degree sun, painted at the kitchen table, read books and cheered Oliver on while he showed off his latest dance moves and acrobatics. We had a great time. My favorite part of the day was looking around my small, crowded kitchen table and seeing my grandma and my little sister crammed in between my two little boys. My grandma will be 91 this summer and since she lives in Pennsylvania and has to fly out here, I cannot help but always think that maybe this trip will be her last. Of course, I've been thinking this for years now but you never know. Anyways, it brings me so much joy to see her with my boys. She got a hearing aid since her last visit and it really enhanced her ability to converse with Oliver- even with his own simple and unique language. And of course, Elliott was right at home in her arms and gave her lots of good, drooly smiles. She even stayed home to babysit him while the rest of us took Oliver to the pool for a quick dip. It was quite the visit, even if it was only for a day. After dinner we packed up our visitors and took them back to the train station but not before we snapped some quick pictures.

Oliver's 30 second picture window closed right before this picture....oh well.

My lovely loves.

GG with Elliott...her 20th GREAT GRANDCHILD!!
