From a Spring Day in 2013...
For me, lowering my expectations- and I mean, really lowering them-and looking for the fun in ordinary circumstances really helps me roll with the punches and keep a positive outlook. So I try to keep things fun. Because kids are really fun and they are really good at having fun!

Because all of this...
Is totally worth a little of this.

Aaaaaand, I am here 6 years later to report that not much has changed!
These pictures are from this evening after Elliott bought himself a "crack it open yourself geode" and smashed it to smithereens on my literally-just-swept back steps. He was using a cinder block as a hammering surface, but once the geode was in a thousand pieces, he asked me if he could just finish the cinderblock off as well. At this point, my sweeping effort from earlier in the day was already completely undone, it was still too early to go to bed, and the two of them were getting along so well that I couldn't see why not. So I said yes to the mess and enjoyed watching them enjoy themselves.
And I shouldn't have said that not much has changed!!
