When I brought my camera to the pool last summer, we got lots of adorable pictures of a newly swimming Summer Girl... as well as this amazing moment of my life on film. It's taken me a full year to have the guts to post it, but it would be a bigger offense to keep it buried on my hard drive forever. Hopefully we didn't ruin your evening swim on that fateful day!!
(in case you are wondering, Summer had learned to swim under water and we gave her goggles to try for the first time right before we took this picture. She was so amused by what she could see that she would actually laugh while she was beneath the surface and I think she swallowed a little too much water...oops!)
Anyways, the pool has been wonderful to us again this year and it continues to be the absolute best way to spend an afternoon that is too hot to do anything else (which around here is most days!).
We got our fair share of weird looks when we named our Fall-Born baby Summer, but God knew what he was doing when he put that name on our hearts for this baby girl. On days like this, I know he delights in watching her be her as much as we do.
Diving Board Buds
Step 1: Discuss jumping plans
Step 2: Look at each other and count out loud (and attempt) to get the timing just right
Step 3: Go for it!
Step 4: and Repeat!!
After watching the boys do all their crazy moves,
Summer decided that today was the day that she would jump off too!!
Go, baby, go!
Boom Sha-Kalaka!
The boys were especially proud to jump with her.
First with Elliott...
(My favorite part of this is Elliott's smile as he is watching her jump. Proud brother!)
And then with Oliver :)
And apparently she knows how to dive!
This one is going into my "all time favorites" category.
Just look at her face- total JOY!!
There is no stopping her now!!
She just kept on diving and I just kept on snapping pictures!
(and it's not like one can have too many pictures of their kids flying fearlessly through the air :))
We try to stay as long as we can without annoying the lifeguards, and when there are less than 5 minutes left, we frantically wrap ourselves in towels, gather up our belongings and try to get out of there before they close up the locker rooms for the night.
(although I often think that this would be a wonderful place to be stuck in for the night!)
See you tomorrow!
I tried to make my still-soaking-wet kids pose for One Last Picture, but they were feeling too silly to open their eyes at the same time :)
So I settled for some individual portraits of my favorite Rec Pool Kids
