Spring Break 2016

I'm not sure I would call it a "break", but we sure squeezed a lot of fun into one week back in March.

We haven't made it to the snow in yeeeears, so we decided to kick start our week with a
"Surprise!! We are picking you up early from school so we can take you on a one-day burnout trip to go sledding in the mountains!!". It gets a bad rap sometimes, but being a parent can be so fun!

Snow!!
Smiles all the way up the hillside :)

And off they go!!

Besides getting to surprise our kids with this adventure, this was a highlight for me: watching Oliver haul another kid's sled for him all the way up the hill.
The little seeds we've been planting are taking root!! (Phew!!)

Brothers zooming down.
Brothers trudging up :)

Daddy, doing what he does best :)
Take the kids to see the snow....check!!

A few days later, we made our way to the Kunkle's house in Sebastapol.
Our dear friends and lovely hosts.

The pool...98% complete and full of rainwater and dreams of summertime!

There is a house full of toys, art supplies, yummy snacks,  a zillion things with wheels and even a basketball hoop...yet this woodpile full of worms is where they want to play :)

Oh...and did I mention the PUPPIES?!!!

There is nothing easy about fostering 7 puppies...

but they sure are cute!!
We were happy to help love on them...
and to let them love on us.
These guys love on us pretty well, too!
We love you Kunkles!

I was aching for some time at the ocean so we took a little detour on our way home and ended up at the beautiful and windy Dillon Beach

 Dunes for Days!

Going to great lengths to bring me a flower :)

Showing me her (co)"llection" of broken shells

Don't you dare!! :)

Our friends literally jump over rivers for us :)

Hello Rogges!!

Ice Cream tastes best after a day at the beach
(and even better if you get to eat it with a view of the beach!)

We crammed in one last Cousin Stop before heading back to Monday morning schedules, homework folders, 48 hour shifts, meals around the table and bedtime routines.
Luckily for us, we like all those things too, but it sure was fun to take a break :)
