Monday Morning after the Big Wedding Weekend
and everyone was up early and super duper pumped up
for a big week at Vacation Bible School at our church ;)
I cannot actually recall a single morning that I have had to to wake up any of my children before- it would have been luxurious except for the fact that we needed to be out the door in about 3 minutes after I took this picture...
But we made it!!
and 1st Grade?!!
But we made it!!
| Pre K!! |
This year, I signed up to work in the Pre-K class and got to spend my mornings with these adorable people. I know many of their parents but one of the (many) unexpected pleasures of the week was getting time to know these kids on their own. 4 years old is a pretty magical age!!
While our mornings (and most of our energy!) were spent at VBC, our afternoons were spent doing various combinations of the following 3 activities:
Going to the Pool
(including a guest appearance by Gracie and Emma!!)
Resting
(again, I actually cannot remember a time when Oliver has taken a nap in the middle of the day :))
Aaaand building obstacle courses.
(it's Ninja Warrior Season on TV and in our backyard again!)
We also said goodbye to Sweet Emma who was taking off on an adventure to Uganda where she was going to spend 3 weeks working at a school/village for orphaned children with a group from church. It was hard for me to think of my baby sister being SO far away from me, but I was comforted by the fact that no matter where in the world she was, that she would never be far away from God. And I know that this is something that she really feels called to do (she has wanted to be a teacher since she was two!), that it would be a life changing/growing experience for her to see the world and meet it's people (it always is!), and I was proud of her for making the choice to do something meaningful with her summer vacation.
And after being so far away, it will make sending her to college in Southern California seem like a piece of cake :)
I love you Emma and I already can't wait to see your beautiful face in Week 11!!
8 Weeks done, only 12 more to go!!
