Every year, I surprise myself with how much I enjoy Valentine's day.
I hang my felt-heart garland in the window (thank you, Jenny!) and then I wander through my house armed with scotch tape and a hand full of construction paper hearts, sticking them places where I know the kids will be in hopes that they will notice them and feel loved.
I do it for my kids, but as I go about the day, I see those hearts too: each one, a bright reminder that what is most important in life is happening all around. It's so easy to see the chaos and stress surrounding us, but if we choose to see it, the love is in there too!
Here is what I found when I looked back through the pictures I took on Valentine's Day:
Sometimes, love looks like
finding a game that everyone can play.
Sometimes, love looks like
stopping what you are doing so your mommy can snap a picture of you.
Sometimes, love looks like
getting down on someone else's level.
Life hurts...
But love runs to the rescue!
Sometimes love is
knowing just the thing to cheer them up :)
A lot of love looks like
Sticking Together.
(even when you know you could go faster!!)
Sometimes love looks like a
free ride on Daddy's strong shoulders.
Or a thank you kiss :)
Love refreshes us.
It quiets our soul.
Love is invigorating!!
But it can get messy.
Thank goodness love holds on so tight!
Love patiently holds us steady and washes the muck off.
Love is a long road...
...and I am so grateful to be on it with these people!!
Especially with that guy on the right :)
Especially with that guy on the right :)
