Daddy's Birthday

Quietly decorating the birthday table before Daddy wakes.

His attention to detail is impressive.  And adorable.

Daddy's Girl

Sadly for my dear husband, that was the extent of the birthday festivities. Because sometimes that is just what happens when you turn 34 and your birthday falls on a Normal Tuesday full of Normal Things like school and work and keeping the kids from killing each other (or themselves :)).  And I would have taken him out on a hot date that night, but this was not just ANY Tuesday night:  this was the Tuesday night that Oliver had his Preschool Graduation Celebration.  

But we did make a cake!! 

(that didn't get eaten till the next day-and although it was still delicious, there was far less fanfare than any birthday cake should ever be eaten)

I mistakenly thought that with everyone dressed up nicely, we would at least get a nice shot of Daddy with his crew, but with all the excitement (and sugar!) of the Preschool Celebration, it just wasn't coming together.
But we tried :)

 And then we stopped trying and just had fun together. 

After all,  

 a birthday is really just a Celebration of Life 

And with these kids and this daddy, 

we know how to do that very well!!
