Tonight

6 years ago tonight I danced with my new husband at our wedding reception.

5 years ago tonight I was newly pregnant and suffering from horrible morning sickness and spent the evening throwing up in the bathroom of a our cozy hotel room in romantic Napa.

4 years ago tonight I ate a cake that my mother in law had baked while she babysat Oliver so Sean and I could go see a movie.

3 years ago tonight Sean was was working at the fire department and so I sorted and edited pictures alone for a Christmas card that was never sent because our second baby boy was born 5 days before Christmas.

2 years ago tonight I sat across the table from Sean as he only sort of half joked that we would have another baby when we were sharing our goals for the next year of marriage.

(Sadly, no pictures from the date but here is a picture taken earlier that day showing 2 of the reasons why I thought Sean might be joking :))

1 year ago tonight Sean and I watched college football from a hospital room while I began the process of having my labor induced.

And...

Tonight we came home from a sushi dinner to a homemade sign, a housefull of silly children and a grandma-made birthday cake for our precious daughter who will be One Year Old tomorrow morning.    

   

Maybe someday we will spend a November 17th on a lazy beach on the other side of the world, but I think we both know that what we shared around our humble kitchen table tonight is what it is all about and I love you all the more for that.
