This.
A whole slew (is that the way you spell it?) of randomly assorted pictures that don't mean much to anyone but you and your husband of your precious and ever-changing life. Plus, the last 2 posts were sort of downers but really, there is a lot of fun that still goes on in this little home so I thought I'd try to balance things out :) Enjoy!
Starting us off strong with our cute, little, big eyed nakey-noo. If I didn't know any better, I would think he is made out of bread dough :)
We had the pleasure of a visit from one of my dearest friends Melanie and we finally got to meet the famous Scott. We loved him and so did Oliver.
My sweet Mel.
Lately when Oliver feels so inclined, he will go lay near Elliott or do something that he deems as cute and then command me to get the camera by saying "mom, cheeeesh, mom" (cheese, as in smile for the camera)
Here is an example:
Here is an example:
My kitchen on Valentine's Day. My best girlfriend and I made these banners a few years ago and I love putting it up every year and enjoying it all over again. Oliver is watching Elmo videos on youtube and Elliott is chillaxin while I make dinner. I love being home.
Like I said in the last post, Oliver is obsessed with letters and numbers and his enthusiasm has spilled over into writing. Sean and I found him working on his novel at the kitchen table the other day. He was very serious about his work.
It is an autobiography.
Elliott found his hands and he LOVES them!
I was accused of being a yuppie the other day (hilarious, obviously didn't know me at all) and this is proof that we are about as far from yuppihood as possible: Oliver begs us on an hourly basis to let him "drive" so on most days you can go by our home and see us chillin in a parked car while our 1 year old son is leaning out the window or honking the horn. On this particular day, Sean had a friend over and I caught them all hanging out in the car. Funny thing is that they ALL seemed to be really happy out there....hmmm, guy thing?
And I am pretty sure yuppies don't do this with their children either.
Signs that SPRING is around the corner!!
If Oliver and her grow up and get married they would be Molly and Ollie Hollie. :)
Funny story: The other day Oliver was begging me to go outside. It was 6:45am and let's be honest, I really had no interest. And he was naked. He begged and begged and no matter how much explaining about how freaking cold it was out there (upper 30s) he just wouldn't take no for an answer. I thought that I would be very clever and let him find out for himself so I finally said OK and sent him out just as he was. I figured he would immediately realize the error of his ways and come happily back inside, thanking me for trying to protect him from the cold. But no. He stayed out there for a good 20 minutes. He didn't do anything since I am pretty sure that he was miserably cold but he never asked to come in. This is him standing on one foot while probably trying to warm up the other one.
Boys. Gotta love 'em.
We found some awesome puddles in one of our favorite places in Davis.
Oliver loves to run along this wall and let Sean catch him at the end. While watching them play, I couldn't help but imagine that someday Oliver will probably be as big as his daddy and we won't even think it possible that he was ever small enough to swing around like this. (insert lump-in-throat here)
Oliver's independence around the house amazes me. Here we found him "washing his hands" (and anything else he could get his hands on from my makeup drawer).
Where is Oliver? Has anyone seen him around?
Is he outside?
A small voice from behind the blinds says "Nope!"
Hmmmmm......
Oh there he is!!
Small voice says "Ere he is!!!"
Ah yes, bike season begins again!!
Another common sight in our home these days: Oliver loves to climb into the bassinet with Elliott and "snuggle". Elliott never seems to mind Oliver climbing all over him- I guess he just thinks it is totally normal to be used as a human handle. Gotta love the second born!
By the way, Oliver is wearing my old shirt in this picture!
"Cheeeeeeesh!"
And last but not least, a new and beautiful sight: Oliver has discovered playing in his room by himself. He loves to go in and turn on his music (He knows how to insert a CD and press play-kids these days!) and read a book or build with his blocks. It warms my heart to hear him in there talking to himself and singing praise songs but of course, it also reminds me that he is growing up so fast.
Matt AND Molly made the blog! (it was a big day for the Rogges) ;) Loved this blog...made me really happy! And the pics of the guys enthusiastically tossing Ollie in the front yard turned out awesome (awesome?, awesomely?, you know whatever word that is supposed to be).
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, what great photos! Your boys are so CUTE! Really grateful we had the chance to visit you this summer so all of these scenes look familiar! So glad you are treasuring each moment.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos and fantastic photos Mary! I love the image of Ollie realizing he is in a photo worthy moment and announcing "cheesh!". The one of him in the drawer washing his hands is cute too...just wait till he is still doing that and Elliott is in the other room doing the same thing...it's going to be lots of fun!! lol
ReplyDeleteGreat pics, Mary. Yay for bike season and hanging out in the backyard naked!
ReplyDeleteSooo great. Laughed and laughed at the story of his wanting to go outside naked in 30-something-degree weather. Awesome. He will love that someday.
