Da dada da daaaaaa Da da daaaa...........Here is a sneak peek of my superman costume that Daddy is sewing for me. I can't wait to show you the final product on Halloween!
Last Wednesday, Oliver turned 5 months old! How is it possible for time to go by that fast? I will probably be asking myself this on a regular basis for the rest of my life. I have had so many people, usually other moms, tell me to enjoy Oliver as he is now because it will not be long before they are off on their own, living independent lives. All I can say is that I am certainly loving every minute I have with him and I cannot believe how much joy he brings to my life just by his own existence.....he doesn't even have to do anything- although a smile does go a long way. Oliver is full of life and there are very few moments that he is ever still or quiet. He babbles all day long and he loves to sing along with me in the car. I don't know if it is my terrible voice or maybe I look funny when I sing, but whenever I sing the ABCs, Oliver actually giggles with delight. He is on the move these days too! About 2 weeks ago, I came home from work and noticed that while I was gone, he figured out how to scoot around. I could not believe it! And in just another day or two, his flailing around became even more coordinated and he could really go after something. Sean and I were so proud of him and I think he was even proud of himself. Of course, now I have to vacuum everyday and I guess I should baby proof the house.
Sean and I are doing well too. I have been working my full 3 days a week and am now doing 2 days in a row to consolidate more of my time off together. As with so many of my fears, it turned out not to be so bad and it was nice to work with my same group of patients on back to back days. God has been so gracious to me and I find myself overflowing with energy and joy to be at work. It doesn't make any sense considering how tired I am all the time and how little sleep I am getting but it doesn't have to make sense: it is a gift from God. Sean has a few job opportunities coming up and we are so excited for what could be. This is his first time applying as a licensed paramedic so he can apply for jobs that he wasn't qualified for before. The process takes months for each job so it is a little nerve wracking to wait, but we have waited years for this so what is a little more time. Please pray for God to open up that door for Sean and for Sean to feel confidant in his interactions and interviews with each department. We need him to get a job!
Just for fun, here are some pictures of Sean and I at the same age Oliver is now. Who do you think he looks like? Enjoy!

Love it!!! He is definitely looks like Sean, what a great idea for a blog post! I will pray for Sean's job stuff, keep me posted. We are almost healthy now after a month of sickness so we'll have to have you guys come play! Emma and Oliver can chase each other around, baby style :)

ReplyDeleteSorry- I deleted my comment above because my phone browser sent it through before I was done! Take 2...
ReplyDeleteI will be praying for Sean to find a job that is family schedule friendly, challenging, and fulfilling. Oh, and one that pays a boatload ; )
At this stage, I have to say that Oliver looks like a carbon copy of Sean. However, I also have to say...you were the cutest baby ever!
My last comment, promise. This is something I meant to comment on months ago and the superman costume reminded me.
ReplyDeleteI am so incredibly impressed by Sean's sewing abilities. I am sure the costume came out adorably, but what I most amazed by is the blanket! I have seen large handpieced heirloom baby quilts like that in high end stores like Beyond Conception and New Life Treasures...and those quilts are three and four hundred dollars! He is just so talented...I know people who have quilted for decades and even they have a hard time piecing those full pane fadeouts like the star one that Sean made.
How lovely for Oliver to have such a memento as that; a tangible reminder of his father's dedication to him.
Sean's genes are shining through! :) Good post, Mary!
